Spikes

They've been talking about Steve Elkington's spike controversy on the Golf Channel. He wasn't allowed to wear metal spikes at the sectional qualifier even though other venues for sectional qualifying allowed metal spikes. While I feel bad for Elkington, I can't help but think of where this debate might lead, especially if it goes all the way to some kind of court action. Someday, someone will file a lawsuit claiming it was unfair that course A was longer than course B. Or that course A had more bunkers than course B. Apparently people get to choose where they want to play their qualifying rounds, so it would seem that Elkington just chose the wrong venue.
